Remote DevOps & Java Engineer (f/m/d)

with a focus on Kubernetes administration (full-time or part-time)

IT Beratung Hermann GmbH develops innovative, custom-tailored IT solutions. We are a small, closely cooperating digital craft shop. With our work we make critical IT infrastructures safely usable. If you enjoy working in a team to build self-contained, stable and complex software, value container-based IT infrastructure with a focus on Kubernetes, security and compliance, and really know how to speak and understand Java, then you'll fit right in. Our daily collaboration happens mostly online via Nextcloud.

Your responsibilities

  • You actively and independently develop software, and migrate existing infrastructure into systems we build, to achieve digital sovereignty and to optimise performance, scalability and reliability.
  • The focus of your work is on container orchestration with Kubernetes (AKS, OpenShift, k3s) and on the automation & containerisation of applications (Quarkus).
  • You identify potential for improvement in the multi-cloud architecture and apply best practices for continuous optimisation.
  • You automate infrastructure and development processes.
  • You work embedded in development teams to build cloud-native services, always within the security and architecture guidelines.
  • Your toolbox includes: solid Java knowledge, experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher), databases such as PostgreSQL, and know-how in clusters, load balancing, backup & recovery, and performance tuning. You are familiar with managing networking fundamentals and with securing secrets and keys via HashiCorp Vault and Tang servers to build a NIS2-compliant infrastructure.

Our requirements

  • You have a relevant IT education (technical high school, university of applied sciences, university) and professional experience in DevOps and cloud infrastructure.
  • You have hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker and Podman.
  • You are willing to continuously expand your knowledge and skills.
  • You have experience monitoring, securing and optimising cloud infrastructure, and you work in a solution-oriented, independent, and at the same time team-oriented manner.
  • You are willing to think beyond your own area of focus and to dive into adjacent topics such as identity and security.
  • You work autonomously, in a structured and solution-oriented way; your German and English skills are very good.
  • As a team player you set high quality standards and have a clear focus on customer needs.

Your benefits

  • You don't yet have to be a Kubernetes and cloud-native specialist or a full-stack Java expert, but please bring plenty of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
  • Shaping the future of IT means staying up to date — we enable individual training and continuing education.
  • We build cross-platform user interfaces with Flutter. If you have prior experience or just an interest in open-source UI development, let us know — you'll make our day.
  • Do you like to work in a results-oriented way? So do we. We offer flexibility and freedom in choosing where you work.
  • Keen to run IT solutions we build together on your own Synology, on the Kubernetes cluster, and on a hyperscaler? Then let's go — get in touch.

Salary
